From The Den:

There’s a lot to catch up on from the Lions’ Den. We had a productive summer, hosting a very successful food drive at the IGA in July, manning a table at the Kent Sidewalk Sale Days selling brooms and sharing information about our club, and giving out hot dogs and snacks at the Kent Memorial Library Carnival.

Our fall schedule is off to a big start with the Fall Festival (Sept. 27 and 28) on the grounds of the Sloane Stanley Museum. We will grill burgers and hot dogs, with some of the best French fries around. The event is our biggest fundraiser of the year. If you are a morning person, the Boy Scouts will be on hand making their delicious breakfast sandwiches.

Come on down for an interesting day strolling around the antique machinery, take a ride on the train and have a burger.

The Lions will also be facilitating an eyesight screening at Kent Center School on Thursday, Oct. 16.

In addition, we are working with different community organizations to raise awareness about the proper way for pedestrians to cross the street. It is actually state law for a person to step into the cross walk and wave to any oncoming car to get their attention before crossing. Let’s keep everyone safe!

Our “famous” brooms are now available at Kent Wine & Spirits. Brooms are $15—swing in and pick one up for your fall clean ups.

On Monday, Oct. 20, the club will host a Red Cross Blood drive. There are still appointments available; to sign up click HERE
