KENT, Conn.—The Kent Historical Society trustees and staff are busy preparing for this summer’s exhibit, which will focus on Kent’s effort to support the nascent nation’s “Cause for Independence.”
The display at Seven Hearths Museum located at 4 Studio Hill Road will focus largely on women’s contributions, and will include a series of demonstrations from local “makers.”
In a changing economy, independence began at home with a rigorous effort towards self-reliance. The historical society will share what life was like on the home front of 18th century Kent.
To that end, the curatorial team is seeking late 18th– and early 19th-century homespun needlework from family collections to include in the displays.
The exhibition is scheduled to open in June.
