KENT, Conn.—In a rivalry matchup between South Kent School and Kent School Wednesday, April 2, the lacrosse field turned into a stage.

The game consisted of fast-paced action, momentum swings and standout performances. South Kent came out strong, dominating the first half with fast breaks and sharp shooting, building a solid 4-1 lead by halftime.
Leading the charge was Luke Murphy, ’26, who netted two of South Kent’s early goals, showcasing his knack for stepping up in high-pressure moments. His dynamic play helped set the tone for the first half.
But Kent School wasn’t about to back down. It stormed into the second half with renewed intensity, scoring two quick goals to narrow the gap to 4-3. As its defense locked in and shut down South Kent’s offense for several possessions, Kent gained momentum and sent waves of energy through the crowd. At 5-4, the game hung in the balance.
With fewer than five minutes remaining, it was Murphy who once again answered the call. Completing his hat trick, he delivered a critical goal to extend the lead. Murphy struck again in the final minutes, finishing with four goals on the day and sealing the win for South Kent.
South Kent closed out the fourth quarter with three unanswered goals, pulling away from its rivals and securing an 8–5 victory. Its early domination and clutch execution in the final minutes made the difference.
