KENT, Conn. — Kent voters were turning out in numbers to vote in the 2024 presidential election today with more than half of the registered voters having cast their ballots by noon.
While there was never a line, voters flowed steadily into the large meeting room at town hall, where their residency was checked and they were allowed to vote.
Registrar of Voters Therese Duncan said 1,124 of the 2,222 voters in town had cast their ballots by that hour. Of those, 384 had voted in-person with the remainder having cast early or absentee ballots.
She said the total number of voters is changing over the course of the day as new voters are registered, but at noon the town had 1,001 registered Democrats, 435 Republicans and 899 unaffiliated.
The turnout for presidential elections is typically high in Kent, 90 percent of the electorate turning out, she reported.
Polls close at 8 p.m.
