KENT, Conn.—Gloria “Peanut” (Wolinski) Scribner, 81, of Kent passed away on Jan. 23, 2026, following a brief illness at Danbury Hospital.
She was born on Dec. 25, 1944, in New Milford, Conn., the daughter of the late Joseph and Evelyn Wolinski of South Kent. She lived most of her life in Kent, where she was well known and deeply rooted in the community.
She worked for many years as a transformer winder at Berkshire Transformer and later at The Kent Nursing Home until her retirement.
Gloria enjoyed traveling, especially trips to Cape Cod, which she loved sharing with her former partner, Donald “Shorty” Schultz, who predeceased her in 2019. Together they were devoted diehard New York Mets fans.
In recent years, Gloria found her greatest joy spending time with her great-granddaughters, Peyton and Sutton, whom she adored.
She is survived by her brother, Joseph Wolinski and his wife, Anna, of North Carolina; her daughters, Karen and Pat Beatty, and Joann Marsh and Dave Pechaski, of Warren; her grandson, Chad Beatty and his wife, Kelly, of Sherman; and her great-grandchildren, Peyton and Sutton Beatty. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Gloria was predeceased by her sister, Mary “Midge” Stephens.
A private graveside service will be held in the spring.
