KENT—Kent News, Inc. (KNI), the nonprofit publisher of The Kent Good Times Dispatch announces that Karen Chase, who has served as its founding board president, will step down from her role on the board, effective Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2024.
As a key figure in the early development of the launch phase of Kent News, Inc., Chase has played a pivotal role in establishing the foundation of the organization.
Her involvement in all aspects of the publication’s founding from incorporation to fundraising to governance has been instrumental in getting the organization to where it is today, according to Andrea Schoeny, board president.
“We extend our sincere thanks to Karen for her dedication and myriad contributions she has made during her tenure,” Schoeny said. “Her leadership and relationships within the community were integral in guiding our organization through its early months.”
To recognize and celebrate Chase’s contributions, Kent News, Inc. will host a gathering in her honor Sunday, Oct. 13, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the large meeting room at the rear of Kent Town Hall, 41 Kent Green Blvd.
The event will celebrate the publication’s one-year anniversary of publishing hyperlocal news online, and extend thanks to Chase for her tireless work.
The publication’s friends, supporters and community members are invited to attend.
Looking forward, Schoeny said KNI is excited about the opportunities ahead and is committed to continuing its mission with renewed focus and direction.
“We invite our supporters and community members to join us in recognizing Chase’s role in our history and to be part of the next phase of our journey,” the president said.
