SHARON, Conn.—Meghan Flanagan is the new managing director of the Sharon Playhouse.
She brings extensive experience in operations, strategic planning and community leadership to the playhouse. She joins Carl Andress, artistic director, and Michael Kevin Baldwin, education and community director, on the leadership team.
Her appointment follows the dedicated service of Rod Christensen, who moved on after more than two years in the position.
Previously, Flanagan served as chief operations officer at the National Society of Compliance Professionals (NSCP) and as revenue operations manager at Red Oak Compliance Solutions, among other roles in which she streamlined operations, optimized cross-functional teams and drove audience engagement.
Flanagan, a former board member and treasurer of the Sharon Playhouse, is no stranger to the community. She has co-chaired the Sharon Connect Task Force, which brought high-speed internet access to over 250 rural homes in Connecticut. She also serves on the board of the Hotchkiss Library of Sharon and is a former board member of the Equus Effect.
In addition to this leadership announcement, the Sharon Playhouse is gearing up for its annual Spotlight Gala, which will be held Saturday, May 31, a marquee event of the season.
This year’s gala will honor Emily Soell, board president, for her contributions to the Playhouse and the community. The gala will feature a cocktail party with live music from Ram Miles and Joe Finn, a performance on the Olsen Stage, and an after-party. Tickets for the gala are available now.
Performances will include singer Wanda Houston, Avery Hope, who will play Annie in the playhouse’s upcoming production of “Annie,” and Landry Champlin, recently featured on “American Idol” and returning as Lily St. Regis in “Annie.”
The gala will also feature local singers and dancers, including Will Nash Broyles, Tricia DeSario, Michelle Lemon, Michael Siktberg, Sasha Spitz, and Jonathan Zalaski. Krystyna Resavy directs and choreographs the event and Eric Thomas Johnson serves as music director.
The Sharon Playhouse is a professional, nonprofit theater producing performances with Broadway-caliber actors as well as talented local community members. Its mission is to entertain the community of Northwest Connecticut and beyond, while also serving as a teaching theater to encourage aspiring actors and other theater artists of all ages to develop their craft.
