KENT, Conn—The Kent Memorial Library and the House of Books will co-sponsor a May 8 appearance by Brendan Flaherty, whose debut novel, “The Dredge,” follows the story of two estranged brothers must confront the violence of the past when they learn the pond where they played as children will be dredged.

The event will take place in the Reading Room at the Kent Library, 32 North Main St.
Flaherty, a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, earned his MFA from Boston University. He lives in Connecticut with his wife and two sons.
