SHARON, Conn.—Jim Flaherty, acclaimed author, advertising veteran and longtime friend of the Hotchkiss Library of Sharon, invites aspiring and seasoned writers alike to discover the joy of putting words on paper in his upcoming seven-week writer’s workshop.
Flaherty believes that “The Right Life is the Write Life.” Whether the goal is writing a book, capturing family stories, or simply crafting better letters to loved ones, this workshop will help writers find their voice and overcome writer’s block.
“Nothing will make you happier than putting something down on a page and realizing, ‘Hey, it’s pretty good,’” said Flaherty.
By the time the workshop begins on Monday, Sept. 29, Flaherty will be celebrating his 90th year—though he insists he’s “going on 50.” His career spans decades: from Madison Avenue ad campaigns in New York and Argentina, to the creation of Troutbeck in Amenia, to the publication of five books written entirely by hand. Today, he travels the country inspiring audiences to age joyfully and stay creative.
The workshop will meet once a week for 1.5 hours, 1 to 2:30 p.m., over the course of seven weeks at the Hotchkiss Library at 10 Upper Main St.
Participants can expect an engaging, fun, and creative environment designed to spark inspiration and improve writing skills. Writers of all genres and generations are welcome.
