KENT, Conn.—You may think of your dog as your baby, but the state doesn’t see it that way. Every June it requires you to register your best bud with the Town Clerk’s Office if the pup is more than six months old.

Failing to do this results in a $1 per month late fee, with the ultimate punishment for failing to register your pet(s) being a fine of $75 per dog.
The licensing fee is $8 for each spayed or neutered dog and $19 for each unaltered dog.
License registrations/renewals began last week and can be obtained in one of three ways:
- In person at the Kent Town Clerk’s office during normal business hours, Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Friday, 9 a.m. to noon.
- By mail by printing out and completing the dog license application available here, and returning it with full payment to Town Clerk, P.O. Box 843, Kent, CT, 06757, along with a self-addressed, stamped envelope for the return of the dog tags. Checks should be made payable to “Town of Kent.” Complete a separate form for each dog you must license.
- Renewals (only) may be completed online by clicking here. If your dog’s rabies vaccination has expired, you must provide a current rabies certificate to the Town Clerk’s office before the online renewal can be completed. This can be done by emailing the certificate to the Town Clerk’s attention.
