NEW MILFORD, Conn.—The Merryall Center welcomes acclaimed pianist and composer Michael Ford for a special Sunday afternoon concert on Sunday, Sept. 28, at 1 p.m.

Even though audiences may not know Michael Ford’s name yet, they almost certainly know the music he has created with world-renowned author and illustrator Sandra Boynton.
For more than 20 years, Ford and Boynton have collaborated on seven book/CDs for children—three of which were certified RIAA Gold and the now-Platinum “Philadelphia Chickens.”
An experienced producer and technician, Ford has also composed music for a wide variety of film, theater and dance projects. However, the piano has always been his first musical love. His own recordings—”Dream of the Wind” (2009), “Simple Truth” (2012), “Leah’s Farewell” (2015), and “Exile” (2017)—serve as preludes to a new body of work he is now preparing to release.
“My music has hints of impressionism, progressive rock, jazz and Americana,” Ford said. “I have a love of melody and I enjoy rhythmic explorations. There are songs of sadness, but also those with jubilant resolve.”
Music critics and fellow musicians have echoed this sentiment, praising his piano works for their lyrical beauty, adventurous harmonies, and emotional range.
This intimate concert at Merryall will highlight Ford’s contemporary piano compositions while offering audiences a rare chance to experience his artistry up close in Merryall’s acoustically rich setting.
Merryall Center is located at 8 Chapel Hill Road.
Tickets are $25 and available now at www.merryallcenter.org.
