KENT, Conn.—Kent School took third place nationwide at the 2025 MathCON Finals Saturday, May 10, at McCormick Place in Chicago, Ill.

Only the top percentile of students who competed in the online MathCON competition were invited to the National MathCON Finals. Out of more than 34,000 students from across the U.S. and Canada, the five Kent School students earned spots in the finals and tackled a 100-minute challenge.
They answered 32 problems in all—eight each in algebra, combinatorics, geometry, and number theory. The first 28 questions were multiple choice and the last four were constructed response questions.
Arthur I., Class of ’25, took a bronze medal, while Aaron S., Class of ’27, Selina Z. and William X, both Class of ’28, received honorable mentions. Kent School placed third overall in the high school division.
The students were coached by math teacher Patrick Kinsella. They were supported by chaperones Shaquille Brown-Butler and Eric Butler.
