GAYLORDSVILLE—Merwinsville Hotel Restoration will hold its Reel Readers holiday movie and Yankee swap party Dec. 17 at 4 p.m. at the Old Oak Tavern, 1 South Kent Road.
The Book Club meets every other month to view movies derived from books of no more than 600 pages.
The holiday movie selected during a recent Reel Readers meeting is 1945’s “Christmas in Connecticut,” starring Barbara Stanwyck and Dennis Morgan. It tells the story of a food editor who lied about being the perfect housewife and who must try to cover her deception when her boss and a returning war hero invite themselves to her home for a traditional family Christmas.
There’s no charge, no fees and no pressure in becoming a member of the club.
