A deeply artistic and creative soul, Frank was a filmmaker, photographer, writer and musician who brought imagination and joy to everything he did. He founded and ran the Kent Film Festival for many years, proudly creating a vibrant space for independent art and film.

He loved sharing his creativity through his own films and photographs, the songs he composed (including “The Heart Sings Twice”), and by encouraging others to explore their artistic sides.

An avid hiker, Frank spent many happy hours on the Appalachian Trail near his beloved Kent home and was well known in the Appalachian Trail community. His sharp wit and infectious sense of humor lit up every room. He treated everyone like a close friend, turning ordinary moments into laughter-filled stories and building lasting connections throughout the Kent community. He remained kind and kept spirits high with his warmth and humor.

Frank will always be remembered for his adventurous spirit, creative energy, and the way he made everyone around him feel seen and uplifted with laughter and kindness.

Frank Galterio is survived by his only son, Kiley Galterio, his grandsons Kamden Galterio and Mason Galterio, and his ex-wife Margaret Ryan.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026, from 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Macedonia Pavilion (Macedonia Brook Picnic Shelter) in Macedonia Brook State Park, 159 Macedonia Brook Road, Kent. Friends are invited to share stories, view photos and listen to his song “The Heart Sings Twice.”
