KENT, Conn.—In celebration of Earth Day, the Kent Land Trust invites community members of all ages (10 and older) to join in a hands-on Earth Day Stewardship Restoration Workday and Tree Planting on Saturday, April 25, at 9 a.m. at the Claire Murphy Riverwalk, 170 Kent Road.

For the past several years, volunteers and stewardship staff have been working to restore the ecological health of the riverwalk by removing invasive plants and reestablishing native species along the waterfront. This year’s workday continues that effort with a focus on planting beneficial native trees and improving habitat for wildlife.
“This is one of our most inspiring volunteer days of the year,” said Melissa Cherniske, program
manager for the Kent Land Trust. “Earth Day reminds us that meaningful conservation happens when a community comes together with purpose. Every tree we plant and every invasive we remove helps restore resilience to this beautiful stretch of the Housatonic River.”
The event is free and open to the public, and registration helps KLT communicate weather-related updates.
