KENT, Conn.—George Baker, a John Adams re-enactor, will lead “A Lively and Revolutionary Conversation with America’s Second President” at the Kent Memorial Library Thursday, June 4, at 6 p.m.

“Adams” will talk about his life and times in a humorous and inspiring performance and discuss, among the many incidents in Adams’ life, the Boston Massacre Trial of 1770. Adams, already a Patriot, felt it his moral duty to provide the defense for 14 British soldiers charged with murder after they fired into a mob of 500 Bostonians, killing six of them.
This case was the first time in a colonial court that the judge instructed the jury that you cannot convict unless you are convinced of the defendant’s guilt “beyond a reasonable doubt.”
The program will be held at the library’s temporary location at 10-12 Landmark Lane in Kent Green. Registration is required.
