Anne Parry Becker, 80, a member of the first class of girls at Kent School, died peacefully at her home in Wells, Maine, March 21, 2026.

She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, and her presence will be deeply missed.

Anne Brodhead (Parry) Becker was among the first class of girls admitted to Kent School.

The daughter of Boyd Easton Brodhead and Kathryn Platt Brodhead, Anne was born on April 9, 1945, in Amsterdam, N.Y.

She was predeceased by her husband, Douglas Reed Becker, her sister, Deborah Clay Brodhead, and her ex-husband, John Carle Parry IV. 

She is survived by her two daughters Alyson Drew (Parker) and Jennifer McCarthy (Kevin); stepchildren Jonathan Becker (Johanna), Jason Becker (Audrey), Gretchen Keay (Christopher; sister Leslie Brodhead Hookailo and nephew Marshall Hookailo (Nicole). 

She is also survived by her siblings-in-law Rick Becker (Linda), Sara Shirley (James), Jonathan Ross Colbert (Amy) and Amy Hourihan (Seamus); and 13 grandchildren Harper, Samantha and Keegan Drew, Owen and Lucas McCarthy, Caitlyn, Colby and Hadley Becker, Finlay and Emma Keay, and Timothy, Margaret and Elizabeth Becker.

Anne grew up primarily in Dover, N.H., but joined the first class of girls at Kent School for her final three years of high school, graduating in 1963. She earned a BA in Political Science at the University of Pennsylvania in 1967. 

After graduation Anne married her first husband, John Parry, and they moved to Germantown, Penn., where their two daughters were born.

In 1975, Anne and her family moved to Barrington, R.I., where she lived for almost 20 years. She worked in the Development, Admissions and Financial Aid offices at Brown University. In 1991, she moved to Roanoke, Va., to become the vice president of admission and financial aid at Hollins University. Anne returned to Rhode Island in 1995 and worked as the director of financial aid for Wheaton College before working as a higher education consultant for PeopleSoft.

Anne reconnected with her hometown friend Doug Becker and they were married in Barrington in 1999. They enjoyed a long and loving marriage filled with folk music, many rounds of golf, fishing adventures and plenty of domestic and international travels. They moved to Riverbend Woods in Wells, Maine, in 2016 

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 20, at St. David’s Episcopal Church in Kennebunk, Maine. 

In lieu of flowers memorial gifts in her memory may be made to: “Living Well with Cancer Fund” at York Hospital in Maine, York Hospital Cancer Fund Link, or St. David’s Episcopal Church, 138 York Street Kennebunk, ME 04043.
