Kent, Conn.—Kent Park and Recreation is once again welcoming local families to join its youth sports programs, offering seasonal clinics and leagues for children in pre-K through fifth grade. With a focus on skill development, teamwork and community spirit, the department’s fall and winter offerings keep kids active and engaged throughout the school year.

This fall, the youth soccer program kicks off on September 8, featuring evening clinics and games designed for both beginners and experienced players. Open to children from Pre-K through 5th grade, the program provides age-appropriate instruction in a supportive and fun environment.
Looking ahead to winter, the basketball season begins in January. This program is available for children in kindergarten through fifth grade and includes two skill divisions: a Beginner League and an Advanced League. Both leagues aim to foster a balance of fun and competition, helping young athletes grow in confidence and ability.
“These programs are a great way for kids to not only develop their athletic skills but also to learn the values of teamwork, sportsmanship, and dedication,” said Matt Busse, director of Kent Park and Recreation. “We see kids come back year after year and it’s exciting to watch them progress and enjoy being part of a team.”
Kent Park and Recreation is also seeking volunteer coaches and community members to support its programs throughout the year. No coaching experience is necessary just a willingness to help and a passion for working with children.
Registration is now open for both fall soccer and winter basketball. Families are encouraged to sign up early, as spots can fill quickly. For more information and to register, visit the Kent Park and Recreation website.
