KENT—Veteran journalist Lynn Mellis Worthington has joined the Kent Good Times Dispatch as a copy editor and freelance writer. As a member of the Board of Selectmen, she will not cover issues where there could be a conflict of interest.
Worthington was formerly managing editor of the Kent GTD, taking the helm in 1988 and moving to town in 1990. She holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Journalism from Ohio University.
She worked in multiple roles at South Kent School for 26 years, teaching writing, English, Embedded Journalism, and creating video documentaries. For the past five years, she served as director of Academic Counseling.
For two years she taught a college-level course from Syracuse University called Creative Nonfiction Writing. And for 25 years she was advisor to The Pigtail and the Cardinal News Network, the school’s student media publications. For 10 years, she was also the publications director.
In addition to this busy schedule, she was a correspondent for the Republican-American newspaper on two separate occasions for a total of 18 years.
